Climate Resilient Fisheries Portfolio

Globally, ocean ecosystems are experiencing unprecedented environmental change, threatening fisheries and the coastal communities that depend upon them. Fisheries managers are ready to adapt their management systems to become more responsive to these changes. At the same time, the scientific community has greatly grown their capabilities to understand and predict changing conditions. There is an urgent need to translate this knowledge into action to foster climate resilient fisheries and fishing communities around the world.
Fund Projects. Support Engagement.
This portfolio aims to fund projects and support engagement that advance the science and practice of climate resilient fisheries around the world. Through this work, we will support and amplify real-world applications and case studies that the global community can learn from to address this issue across various fisheries governance systems and ecosystems around the globe.
Three Broad Strategies
- Targeted Convenings: Bring together experts to identify needs, priorities, and opportunities for integrating new information into management practices.
- Grantmaking: Support efforts (via Requests for Proposals, RFPs) that translate research into actionable management solutions.
- Community-Building: Strengthen partnerships, foster new connections, and prioritize relationships to drive collective action.
